Model runs:About four runs a day, published as each becomes available. The model is UK Variable resolution on a ~1.5km grid, so it resolves showers and orographic rain the global models smooth away, but over a much smaller area and a much shorter horizon.
Trial pipeline: this feed is built by a second, newer data pipeline (a small always-on server rather than the site's usual scheduled jobs), run alongside the existing one to see how well it holds up. The freshness dot above shows how old its newest data is.
Deterministic, not a probability: this is a single model solution, so it shows one possible outcome rather than a range. Treat it as guidance on pattern and timing, not as a forecast of exact totals at a place.
Comparing models: all seven render to the same map extent with the same colour scale, so a colour means the same millimetres whichever is selected. Differences you see between them are the models disagreeing, not the maps being drawn differently.
Isobars (MSLP): on by default, drawn as pressure lines over the rainfall; switch them off in the panel above (or in the bottom bar, on a wide enough screen). H/L pressure centres are labelled with their central pressure in hPa.

A new page checks every rain gauge across Great Britain every 15 minutes against its neighbours, the radar and its own recent readings. The map shows rainfall as usual, and any gauge that has had a second look wears a ring: red for likely faulty, amber for uncertain, green for a real shower the neighbours missed. It also picks out blocked gauges that read nothing while it rains all around them. Open a gauge in the list to see why, with its readings beside the radar.
The Flood Forecasting Centre and the Met Office now share one impact matrix, so Flood Guidance Statements use new names: impact runs Minor, Moderate, Significant, Extreme (was Minimal, Minor, Significant, Severe) and likelihood Low, Medium, High, Very high. The colours and overall risk levels are unchanged, and the whole site, archive included, now uses the new names. Weather warnings are now labelled by their colour (Yellow, Amber, Red) rather than Moderate, Severe and Extreme, which are matrix words now.
Sharper isobars that keep their labels when you zoom in
Isobars on the model viewer and the multi-model comparison are now drawn in your browser from the pressure field, so the lines stay thin and every line on screen is labelled with its pressure at any zoom. On the comparison page the slider now carries on past the end of a shorter run, such as UKV's, so the models that still have data can be compared side by side.
